In their eleventh year of cutting edge collaboration, Emilie Conrad and
Suzanne Scurlock-Durana are offering a unique course that will allow each
person to discover the intimate connection between brain function and body
intelligence.
Through research and clinical evidence, functions previously believed to originate in the brain alone, are being discovered all over the body: immune function, neurological capacity and endorphin production, to name just a few.
The brain, as well as the rest of the body is able to change and grow throughout life. This neuroplasticity can be stimulated in a number of ways. We will be exploring many of these avenues in our five days together, enhancing our physical, mental and emotional vitality.
Our ability to hear, see, think and feel in fresh ways changes the circumstance
of our daily lives - gifting us with a renewed wonder that awakens us to more
nuanced realms of existence. For those of us in healthcare, teaching, or caretaking
roles, learn how to refresh yourself on a daily basis and how to allow yourself
to receive more deeply.
"Come join us in novel ways of moving, breathing and sensing that
inspire an unending play of existence. Released from the speed of rapid response,
we learn to linger in a world that is richly sensual, growing within ourselves
a dexterity of consciousness that liberates us from the rust of habit."
-- Emilie Conrad
Emilie will present breath and intrinsic movement sequences. Suzanne will
present the anatomy, inner guided explorations, and hands-on protocols. The
combination of the internally inspired Continuum movement and the non-invasive
touch of CranioSacral therapy creates a powerful synergy.
This course is designed for healthcare practitioners of all levels as well as anyone wanting to learn more about using Continuum in a healing way. The only prerequisite is that you know how to touch non-invasively.
Emilie Conrad is the founder of Continuum. She is a visionary whose work
is being incorporated by an international audience of professionals from
fields such as Rolfing, psycho-immunology, dance and physical therapy. Her
love for primitive movement helped her to discover the essential and primary
movements common to all life forms that lie beneath cultural influence.
In 1967, Emilie began teaching this primary movement process, calling it
Continuum. From 1974 to 1979, Emilie was the movement specialist in a research
study conducted by Dr. Valerie Hunt at UCLA. This ground-breaking study
demonstrated that primary movement is essential to our ability to innovate
new neural pathways and to create a nourishing intrinsic environment which
can mediate disease processes as well as aging.
